My Love

You know my love for languages,

Teach me a phrase.

You know my love for culture,

Let me live with you for several days.

I just want to make a change,

Globally around your eyes.

Maybe provide a foreign exchange,

A program that reduces those innocent cries.

Pass this around,

Hug every human being.

Make this profound,

Seeing is believing.

The suffering from the people,

That we never hear about.

Until they are murdered,

And that’s what it’s about.

We need to be aware,

Of the world around.

And we better act fast,

Before they wear down.

To let the water run.

But when Darfur’s in trouble,

They’re not having fun.

Some people think it’s easy,

To go to the grocery store.

But what they don’t realize,

Are the people they ignore.
